I can only confirm this, I'm using it for trusted LAN file transfer only. This takes the encryption burden from the CPU in some smaller machines. The tool works, only at a fraction of what other ftp-clients do. No idea why.

Well that's a shame. I just switched to curlftpfs yesterday because sshfs is no longer maintained. It took hours to setup my app to synchronize files to newly install Android Wifi FTP Server instead of old Android Wifi SSH/SSHFS Server. :(
