Enhance security of Facebook and external integration component #236

Steps have been taken to add defensive measures to the Facebook integration aspect of the external integration component. We now need to roll these enhancements out to the Berlin and San Diego integration components. Will wait to ensure that the FB integration runs smoothly for a few days before doing the others.

This is 80% done, but I need to check a few other code paths to ensure full coverage.
