The introduction of the model is quite confusing. The framework (spread of what the author designates as "focal belief" followed by the spread of "agreement cascade") is introduced as a fact of life, rather than a result of a gradually introduced and justified set of assumptions. Although, it might look reasonable, this framework is supported by nothing but a single example given in the first two paragraphs. One could introduce numerous alternative mechanisms of interaction between concurrently or sequentially diffusing entities. Few of the introduced terms (e.g. "focal belief") are used as if they were broadly accepted concepts. They become clear later, but aren't defined at the time of their first use.
