This is the effect of game batches. For example it doesn't matter whether you need 1 or 10 Advanced Screws for your product, uncommon metalwork still needs to produce one batch (ie. 10-15 depending on talents). Same bubbles through products and pure tiers or schematics (ie. you cannot produce 1 T2 Product schematic, it's always batch of n). The tool was designed to show you minimum materials necessary to dump in your factory to be able to produce desired products. I'll keep the ticket open for sake of feature request tracking of material (cost) calculation of 'infinite production' - it's something I count with for next major version. If you wish to use the calculator to determine item costs on 'infinite production' for now just enter large enough volume (for example 10 XL engines) and you'll be close enough.
The productivity talents are not affecting the craft calculations correctly.
For example raising product productivity to higher level won't result in the tool showing less amount of ore used.
