Really poor documentation #6

I'm sure the guides are written with the best intentions but they are horrible for someone with zero knowledge of electronics (like myself). e.g. there is nothing in the diagrams or the text to explain that the LEDs have a positive and a negative side. I couldn't work out why they wouldn't light up but a quick search online explained the shorter leg is the negative. Considering this a "starter" kit this should be explained. The learning guide also should explain why something is wired the way it is e.g. why a potentiometer has three pins - otherwise it is just an assembly guide.

looks like the potentiometer requires male to female leads, which the starter kit does not come with (only male leads)

maybe you don't (could plug potentiometer straight in to the Breadboard, run the leads from adjacent pin hole), but yeah the doc images could show that better
