this repository does things I could do just as easily in the exact way I want, plus its 10+ years old and based on old (but still accurate) data sources.

it may make more sense to build up something similar on my own, or just pulling what im missing from the other data sources I integrate with

Note for later - review how they get older congress data. Propublica only goes back to congress 93.

I'd rather build this out by accessing sources directly, Vs. relying on this large (and quite complex) codebase.
