An effort needs to be made to not render this timeline one for the victors. Not all science influencers were cis, able-bodied, white, heterosexual men. That is far too small a subset of the world's population to give them all the glory. We must celebrate the diversity that has helped develop modern research, but also actively engage with the fact that those who do not conform to certain stereotypes have been - and often continue to be - pushed to the margins of the academy.
Likewise, we must acknowledge the biases - present and past - that have seeped into widely-held assumptions in research subjects and methods. Thus, this theme may link up to numerous research tragedies.
