1 year ago UTSC, canada gave sharepoint access with 500GB space to upload the files. Gave access to lenin, shrini, chandru, anwar.
Will upload the books there in PDF, TIFF zip, metadata.csv format. Lenin will define the identifier.
We have few books found online already. Lenin collected them already and will upload them first.
Chandru started to scan 54 books.
Anwar send Second batch of books to lenin. Lenin is scanning them.
Anwar will get magazines.

1 year ago Lenin uploaded 30 books available in internet to sharepoint. He is working on splitting the double side images to single side image, for the books he scanned so far.
Anwar suggested to try out the software at http://www.booksorber.com/index.php?page=buy#top Lenin and shrini will explore this.
Chandru is scanning the books. Anwar will meet him tomorrow and train for post processing, upload to teams.
Anwar received "Bank workers association books collection" 1984 to 2012 issues except years 2001& 2005. 21 volumes received.
He will send to lenin for scanning them.
Anwar bought this book - https://www.commonfolks.in/books/d/tamizhil-soviet-ilakkiyangal It has a catalog all the soviet books released in tamil so far. He will scan and share in private, to publish as books catalog.
Comrade Thyagu has a good library at his home. He agreed to release his writing in CC license. He agreed to scan societ books in his home library.
Chandru is scanning the 54 books received from his previous Office. After that, he will goto Comrade Thyagu Home to scan the books at his library.

Anwar sent bank association magazines to lenin. (Around 100 in count)
Anwar visited kootakuppam library. He got few magazines to scan. He will send them to chandru to scan.
Pondy library will send the collection details to anwar. They are ready to provide all old magazines they have for scanning.

1 year ago Chandru is not well. He needs a break of 2 weeks.
Lenin scanned all the books,he received. uploaded 14 books, to teams.
For few books, 100 pages gives 10GB in TIFF format. in 600 dpi, color scanning.
each page gives 30-40MB, for tiff.
Asked lenin to keep 300 dpi itself. Make sure each tiff has around 5-10 mb only.
On PDF, each page gives 1 mb. using tiff2pdf to get pdf.
55 books scanned chandru. yet to upload.
15 books scanned by lenin. uploaded 14 books.

All Books published before the passing of the Copyright Act, 1957 applicable from 21 January 1958, are governed by the The Indian Copyright Act, 1914 http://www.wipo.int/edocs/lexdocs/laws/en/in/in121en.pdf.
According to this Law, any Work looses copyright after 50 years of its publication. Therefore, for a text published in 1957, is already in the Public Domain by the Year 2007. Hence, can be republished and transmitted in any means freely.

1 year ago For Wikisource projects, one can focus on material that are clearly public domain or released under appropriate creative common license. My understanding is that there is still a large number of works that fall within that category.

If you are looking to publish an eBook that was first published before 1957 in India, you should keep in mind that the copyright in the work has likely expired and the work is now in the public domain. This means that you are free to publish the work as an eBook without seeking permission from the copyright owner. 1 year ago அன்வர் சென்னையிலிருந்து அனுப்பிய புத்தகங்கள் அனைத்தும் மின்வருடப்பட்டது. அப்புத்தகங்களை நாளை அவருக்கு அனுப்பிவிடுவேன், மொத்தம் 15 புத்தகங்கள். அதில் 5 புத்தகங்கள் post processing செய்யப்பட்டு பதிவேற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டது. இதுதவிர நான் காரைக்குடியில் பெறப்பட்ட 6 புத்தகங்கள் மின்வருடி post processing செய்து பதிவேற்றம் செய்துவிட்டேன். இதுவரையில் மொத்தம் 27 புத்தகங்கள் பதிவேற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டுவிட்டது.
வங்கி இதழ்கள் 15 மின்வருடப்பட்டது.
அன்வர் காரைக்காலிலிருந்து அனுப்பிய புத்தங்கள் / இதழ்களை மின்வருட தொடங்கிவிட்டேன்.
