Watch for Tesla sooo slow that it’s useless #487

I got an Apple watch 5 and IPhone 13.

When I click the Watch for Tesla app on my Apple Watch , it takes like 5-10 secs to get online. After that I’m able to click open frunk and the it takes another 5 secs before I can confirm the choice and 5 secs more until it actually opens. Any tips for this? That problem makes the app basically unusable since it’s much faster just to take your phone out and click there.

Hey,

you should be able to just bring up your watch, tap the apps complication on your watch face, then tap the action you want and then bring down your watch again immediately - the command will continue to execute in the background - and it will send a local notification if allowed, to let you know if it completed or not.

You don't have to look at the screen through all that.

The difference with bringing up your phone, is that the official app can use bluetooth, so when within range, it can talk directly to your car. Everyone else have to rely on internet connectivity - both of device and vehicle - if network is spotty, usability will be less than desirable...

I am a bit concerned that you say it takes up to 5 seconds from tapping the button until the confirm action dialog appears - that should be completely instantaneous.

How do you experience the general scrolling and navigation performance? Is it in any way laggy or is it mostly smooth? S5 is basically running the same cpu as the s6 and s7 - so performance should be pretty much equal amongst them...

Kemmey, I cannot make mine work if I don't wait for the HVAC button to "turn on." When I open the app the UI is always gray, clearly showing "not ready." In a few seconds it turns bright and "ready." Yesterday I tried hitting the button while gray, and came out to a hot car. If I wait, it always works right away.

Confirmations for me are very quick assuming a good cell connection. I often park in a place with very poor cellular and it can be quite slow.

Stats: 2019 M3LR, Watch 6, iPhone 13 Pro

I'm now on the iOS/Watch betas, and it all seems MUCH faster, suddenly. But I've only been using them for a few days.
