Add version numbering to preprocessing #6

Vendor's don't necessarily store version information in their file formats. Add a version parameter to future-proof preprocessing.

Dummy version parameters have been added to the APIs. Need to see what naming scheme the community desires. I'm leaning toward a string key and maintaining some repository of example images (so that folks can check which overlay they are seeing).
