Rather than use the phrase "unknown error" with a error number, I suggest just
using "error"

Not only does it save a few bytes, it is far less annoying. Users will explore
can develop an independent listing to identify what error numbers that indicate
certain behaviors.

BTW, Microsoft uses "unknown error" for just about everything. I suspect this
is where the phrase crept in.

Unfortunately this crept into my lexicon without my being aware of it:)

"Unknown error" was meant to be an error that did not have a string associated
with it, but now that you point it out, it is misleading. Sorry this did not
get in 5.5, will queue it for the next release.
