Data source: ORCID URL: https://orcid.org/ API: exists, but must sign-up for access

Exploring integration into our cataloguing and metadata workflows.

I'm maintaining a shadow copy of ORCiD profiles (9.6m) that is updated ever 4 hours. This is for my NIH work. This is definitely not RDF, but rather a fairly deep XML construct including employment and training histories, publications, etc. What is desired here? If it's just a lookup of a candidate name, we could probably mock up the necessary triples.

@dave to progress on this request, would it make sense to fill in the spreadsheet with schema.org context that matches the RDF they publish for researchers? Or is your XML too different to treat this lookup like our others?

eichmann commented 3 years ago

@sfolsom as noted in my first comment, the full record is effectively a vita. If this is just a "here's a surname and given name, let's see some ORCiDs" then it's reasonable practical. The original request wasn't too clear on requirements.

Wrong dave 😉
