4 months ago Hi @a1ttech, I'm interested in this idea and can provide a POC where we can as a wallet :
- have a page where we can encrypt a file using Lit protocol and provide other wallet addresses as decryptors (recovery addresses)
- upload the encrypted file to IPFS (using NFT.storage as IPFS gateway)
- connect with another wallet to this page and be able to show the IPFS pointer to retrieve, then decode the file and show the content (Secret)
The nice thing is that we can store secrets and other things. Is it what you are looking for here?
I have a few questions :
- I need to store an array of which address can decrypt which IPFS files (to show when recovery addresses connect). Do you have a solution in Lit protocol where that information is stored? Otherwise, do you know where I can do that? I was thinking https://tableland.xyz/ but all those information will be public, is that ok? It also need some gas to input value in their SQL table onchain
- would this be eligible for the grant program?
Description:
Create a method of account recovery for PKPs whereby wallet owners can designate other accounts as a means of recuperating lost assets or data in case of account lockout.
Why?
Most wallets today are backed up by seed phrase, standing as the only method of recovery for your private key. It is absolutely essential that this seed phrase it stored securely (and reliably) in order to recover your account when changing devices or moving across platforms. This has continued to create complex and frustrating experiences for end users, where lost, stolen, or misspelled seed phrases have contributed to billions of dollars of lost funds.
What will this tool enable?
It will provide PKP wallet owners a means of recovering their assets and data in case they lose access to their previous method of authentication.
Implementation Guidelines:
Additional auth methods or “recovery addresses” may be configured using Lit Actions.
