Infusing Intrinsic Alignments into DESC simulations

We will be working on infusing various Intrinsic Alignments models into DESC N-body simulations.

Contacts: Yesukhei Jagvaral and Rachel Mandelbaum Day/Time: Oct 17-21 Main communication channel: desc-ia slack channel GitHub repo: Zoom room (if applicable):

Prior to sprint week: get small snippet from the simulation group

Goals and deliverable

Our goal will be to access simulation outputs and deliver mock catalogs with various Intrinsic Alignment methods.

Concretely:

  1. Discuss and write down needed simulation products.
  2. Make a list of simulations and their properties.
  3. Make a list of various IA painting methods and their input demands
  4. we should produce a Jupyter notebook showing how to access the simulation outputs for future use.
  5. (Stretch goal) produce a mock catalog with various IA.
  6. (Stretchiest goal) compare the produced mock catalogs with hydrosims and observation.

Resources and skills needed

General familiarity with cosmological simulations.
