Archer2 compatibility #45

Draft of the archer2 compatibility modifications

Currently works with archer2 gnu and cray compilers, with standalone, casim and socrates.

Testing with other configurations needed

Confirmed as working by Ralph Burton for casim 6341 and socrates 358.

A separate PR will be needed to allow newer versions of casim and socrates to run as this would require a deeper dive into the reading changes
