All Revive games crashing on launch #1478

As of today I can't launch any Oculus games using Revive. I have Revive version 2.00 installed since launch and had no issues so far. I played Stormland last Sunday without any problems. Now a mere week later I am not able to play any Oculus game using Revive. All games seem to start fine and then when the first menus appear they all crash back to SteamVR Home.

I have no clue what is going on here since I didn't change anything system-related since my last session.

I'm in the same boat. I was using Revive normally yesterday, then a few hours later went back in but all games I tried crashed on the menu screen on sooner. I reinstalled version 2.0, but I have still the same issue.

Also gave it a try with the Revive Version before (1.9.2. which I also used without any issues before I switched to 2.00 ). Same results now..... every Revive game crashes!

Me too. Azgard's Wrath crashes immediately on launch. Tried upgrading/downgrading multiple versions of Revive, uninstalling reinstalling Oculus. No joy.

I got things working by opting out of the SteamVR beta.

artumino commented 4 years ago

Yep this version of the beta must have messed something up in SteamVR Input, a lot of games are crashing.

Bradgt82 commented 4 years ago

I still cant get Stormland to work with Vive Cosmos via steam vr or revive.

Strange, I had tried this yesterday with no joy. But I've tried again this morning with no changes and Asgard's Wrath is working fine. Maybe needed a reboot after downgrading SteamVR? Anyway, thanks all.

Same here. Opted out of the SteamVR beta and revive now works.

AngelDark92 commented 4 years ago

Beta Update 1.10.18 didn't help either, Revive still crashes unfortunately. Must be something that was introduced in 1.10.17 like steamvrinput or the fix for the graphic driver crash.

Edit: issue was resolved in beta update 1.10.19. It's listed in the fixes.

artumino commented 4 years ago

Can confirm, SteamVR Beta 1.10.19 fixes the issue

PaulGorokhov commented 4 years ago

Is anyone else's game force pausing with the new update 1.10? Seems that the previous opt out of Beta is no longer a viable solution with the new main branch containing whatever was in the Beta that forced the game to crash, but now it just pauses itself right at the splash screen. I have not found a fix.

I'm having the same problem now, with version 1.10.32. The games start but after some seconds, they crash.

kahunamoore commented 4 years ago

I'm running SteamVR 1.11.4 beta with Revive 2.0.0 and it works for several games including Lone Echo, Pistol Whip and a couple of other titles. I couldn't get Asgards Wrath to run but I recently moved it (to make room for Half-Life: Alyx) and when launching it doesn't put up a "Launching xyz" window, just immediately drops back into SteamVR Home. I'm guessing there is something specific to that installation that is broken and not anything to do w/ Revive.

I've tried the above with Nvidia driver versions 442.74 and 445.75 and they work identically.

Do you have any more info on the config & content that are failing? Does it put up the "Launching xyz" window before it crashes?

CrossVR commented 4 years ago

If you move games around you have to install Revive again so that it will recheck the location for all your games.

kahunamoore commented 4 years ago

@CrossVR Thanks for the info. I guess I have just been updating/reinstalling revive so frequently I never ran into this previously.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help w/ this project. I'm a C++ (& C#) dev and want to give back to your effort if possible. Thanks for all the hard work on this project!
