Illustrator doesn't open after install #3

Open aha999 opened 1 year ago

aha999 commented 1 year ago

I did the default location install for the Illustrator, and after install, the program doesn't open.

Not sure what is causing it, do you have a Wiki with troubleshooting instructions available or a chat group on Matrix/Telegram/Discord?

OS: EndeavourOS Linux (Arch based)

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

Can you please provide your Wine version, CPU, GPU, Logs, Driver versions.

aha999 commented 1 year ago

tar should be shiped with your distro. wget is wget on almost evey distro curl is curl on almost evey distro

Vulkan means that you need to be able to run it with your GPU and have it installed R/W means that you need to install it where you have permission to do so.

Also someone else had an issue with an Intel GPU so it might be something related.

aha999 commented 1 year ago

I installed it to the default location, installed Mesa, Vulkan, RW seems to be ok, so I'm not sure.

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

Could you try to install it by defining the install path ?

aha999 commented 1 year ago

It works!! The problem was in the default install folder.

I deleted the installation and installed the Illustrator to the custom folder in /home/thinkpad/Storage/Illustrator/Adobe-Illustrator-2021/ and it simply opened after install.

Glad it worked,

I'll just reopen the issue so I know that I have to fix the default install path.

Hey, I have a similar ? problem. This is not the first time that I install this, but this time it´s giving me trouble. When I try to open Illustrator after the install, nothing happens. So I typed in the terminal the .desktop command to see what´s going on and here´s the output :

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

You should be using the custom wine version not the system one.

supersourix commented 1 year ago

You should be using the custom wine version not the system one.

How can I do so ? I have 0 experience with wine and I can't seem to find the answer. Thank you !

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

It should be the default usually.

I'm having the same issue (using the default installation). Apparently it is missing MSVCP140_CODECVT_IDS.dll. I tried to download and install it but in the and I gave up when I realized Wayland adds a layer of complexity on the whole problem.

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

I use Wayland everyday it shouldn't be the issue.

I've reinstalled it yesterday so no issue with upstream wine installations too.

Maybe there is another issue. are you trying to use GPU mode ? (It should be CPU by default but just to be sure)

Cervantes21 commented 1 year ago

You can try with create a clone version of Windows 10 in Wine

Cervantes21 commented 1 year ago

Other problems, if you have a problem with tool's bar, you can access thought with shortcuts

MiMillieuh commented 1 year ago

I can't reproduce both issue in fedora and opensuse tumbleweed.

Are you sure there isn't something else wrong ? Like the WM or anything like that ?

All wine libs are installed ? 32 and 64 bits ?
