Reliability of the extruder #2

Open diegotrap opened 9 years ago

diegotrap commented 9 years ago

The default 3D printed extruder (not to be confused with hotend) have been tested and can deliver quality prints, but it starts to give problems after some time (in my case, days/weeks of moderate use). I think the plastic starts to deform after being near the hot motor for some time.

I have bypassed this problem by using a metal extruder, but it would be good for the project to develop a more reliable, 3d printed extruder. I will also try to make it compatible with my current metal extruder, so users can choose between the two options.

Hi Diego, is there any way we can create the metal extruder ourselves? Thanks

You can develop a metal extruder or copy the design that I actually have. However I don't have the plans and it is designed to be casted, not machined.

A metal extruder or a more reliable printed one is in my plans, but I have not found time to design it, so it is an issue that may not be fixed in the near future.
