Thanks for supplying the example file Zymo-GridION-EVEN-BB-SN_sup_pass_filtered_27F_1492Rw_1000_reads.fastq.gz. From the extension alone, one would conclude it is likely a gzipped fastaQ file. However, it actually is an unzipped/plaintext fastaQ file (see proof below).
I'd suggest to rename the file to Zymo-GridION-EVEN-BB-SN_sup_pass_filtered_27F_1492Rw_1000_reads.fastq and then gzip it. In that way, users won't be confused.
