Flowing mud crashes server due to overload of tick calculations. #64

Server crashes after a few seconds due to tick failure. Happens everytime a new dimension contains mud/flowing mud. Mud spawns even if a liquid dimlet is used.

Let me know if this is the wrong crash file, it is the one referred to by the server.

McJty commented 7 years ago

Can you show me the information for those dimensions (sneak right click the tab in your hand)

Also what kind of mud? From what mod?

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Not entirely sure, since it was a player on my server that made it. I'll have him get the info asap! I suspect that it's mud from BoP, will get back when sure.

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

muds

I tried to set the liquid to water by putting in a liquid water dimlet, but when i spawned in was surrounded by falling mud. :P

McJty commented 7 years ago

The mud is not a liquid. So not related to liquid dimlets. This seems to be a problem with BoP biome generation. What kind of biome was it?

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

I didnt have a biome controller in it. and i couldnt actually see what biome it was as it crashed. Does that controller mountains mean it randomed to an extreme hills biome?

I also previously tried to create one with molten emerald in a deep ocean biome and it also crashed the server if that helps.

McJty commented 7 years ago

If you get a real crash then I need to see the crashlog. That might give more clues to me.

Otherwise I don't have enough information to figure out what is wrong unfortunatelly. I really need more information about that dimension.

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

The server crash log is in first post? My MC doesnt crash it just gets disconnected after the server dies.

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Where's the log located? I only have the one posted above, referenced by the server console in root/crash-reports/

McJty commented 7 years ago

The first paste is the small log that doesn't contain the crash. I need the big server-side log that you can find in the logs directory

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Any way I can get the log to you?Pastebin doesn't accept it since it's 2MB large and I don't want to shrink it so you're missing out on info.

McJty commented 7 years ago

I think github gists and bpaste don't have a limitation on this

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Thanks, didn't know gists were similar.

First one, most recent: https://gist.github.com/Aseroter/75b609a936fb5598c0d6cdab4354eef0 Second one, few hours earlier: https://gist.github.com/Aseroter/c7d07cdd4cfb85e76e638c46bc7e9a72

McJty commented 7 years ago

Neither of these logs contain a crash. Are you sure those are the ones that occured when the server crashed?

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Those 2 match the server crashing timestamp. Not sure which else it could be. Are they in the .rar or is it the plain .log they're in?

McJty commented 7 years ago

Not sure... It can be that they are in the rar

McJty commented 7 years ago

BTW. Can you try making another dimension and see if that one still gives problems? I mean is there a recurring problem or was it a one-time issue?

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

I've had the falling mud in about a few dimensions so far. 2 were big balls of it randomly around that fell and dissipated over time, assuming thats feature orbs getting it. I think i still have one of those configs around as well

McJty commented 7 years ago

What modpack is this btw that lets mud fall down? I thought mud was a block that was not affected by gravity

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

DW20 1.10.2 v1.1.0 of the pack, happened 2 times.

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

This is the stuff. it doesnt even seem to have a source block

mud1 mud2

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

mud3

Shouldve put this as well

McJty commented 7 years ago

Those screenshots just look like black images on my screen. Is there really something visible there?

McJty commented 7 years ago

In any case, I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do about this. RFTools Dimensions only has rough control over how dimensions are generated. Biome decoration (like this mud from BoP) is really out of my control. You just have to be lucky and hope you don't get dimensions with that biome/generation

Vsdgkk commented 7 years ago

I guess my brightness is screwy ye its big balls of mud that fall and just dissipate. Ok thanks for all the effort. ill try see if i can find a no feature dimlet or something. maybe it only spawns like that or define them

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Any way to blacklist things from generating? Read on a recent issue/idea thread here that it would be a thing in 1.10, not sure if implemented or put on the backburner.

McJty commented 7 years ago

Sure you can blacklist dimlets. But that will not help if BoP decides to generate its own stuff independent from RFTools Dimensions as BoP does not know about dimlets. So I'm afraid that will not help here

Aseroter commented 7 years ago

Alright, cheers anyways! Guess we'll look into blacklisting BoP gen maybe :)

bojangles5 commented 7 years ago

Bit of a necro but still relevant as of 1/17/17 -

There's a material dimlet called "Material Dimlet (?)" that generates this mud stuff and can also be looked up by typing "?" in the workbench search bar. It seems it's recognized as a solid object and can be used for things like tendrils, pyramids, etc.

Think this might be quicksand from BoP.

Used it to make a "Flat terrain" and crashed the server in less than 20 seconds after porting in. May or may not be able to do anything about it but thought it was worth narrowing down the specifics.

Might there be any updates to this issue? Seems to still be happening. I sadly can't provide any crash logs for it as its a friends server. I'll ask them about getting the logs sometime but for now.

I tried the same thing with RFtools Dimensions, first world purely random gen. It was nothing but a grid along the chunk edges. However all it was.. was this falling mud, no source blocks. Shortly after server crashed. Random gen attempts 2 & 3 were fine, none of this was around & no crashes. 4th attempt however was fine for awhile, random spheres of liquid made with random materials. However one I spotted was this mud again, server crashed seconds after it loaded.

Also to clarify the random gens. All I used were Digit dimlets for 3 of them. 3rd attempt I used a stars 2 dimlet. Nothing but a void of stars & slime-sky-islands but no crash on it.

Sorry I can't really provide anything useful other then.. its 'still' happening as of Direwolf20 1.10 (v1.8.1) Minecraft Version 1.10. I'll work on getting the crash logs.
