MechaPwn 3.0 RC1 - SCPH-79003 PAL Issues #74

Closed thewizard99 closed 2 weeks ago

thewizard99 commented 2 years ago

I have just done the recent MechaPwn 3.0 RC1 patch and it has soft locked my console and will no longer allow me to use FreeMcboot.

Followed the instructions to do it for my region. Installed correctly but when I go to access the console after the second switch off it no longer registers my Free McBoot card. It basically has locked the console so it only reads the correct zone and not NTSC Discs.

I am now unable to access FreeMcBoot to reset the console back to the factory via the backup.

I do not know of any other way to get FreeMcBoot to work.

Did you install FMCB cross-region before?

If you have another ps2, just insert memory card there, launch fmcb installer and install FMCB with options normal-> cross-region

Or you can burn freedvdboot

thewizard99 commented 2 years ago

Yes, V1.966 was installed. Will try and get freedvdboot to work see if i cant get that.

You need to install it with options normal-> crossregion, otherwise it will not work

RC1 and RC2 were removed due to major bugs

Do you have any luck with it?

Sadly not, tried on a few systems and its never worked. Not sure if it me doing something wrong or the systems in Europe. Non will recognize a NTSC disc at all. I might try and do it with an update but ill have to look into it.

I gave up a few months after this and just moved copying dumps to the hard drive. I would like to try get this working properly.

It highly depends on console model. If you tried on 79k then it can run all games without issues. If you experience some issues, you maybe mess up your nvram with older builds and you need to restore it to the vanilla state and install latest development build. Or you forgot to apply master patch to the disks before burning backups. Or you installed Force Unlock.

And by hard drive you mean USB hard drive and OPL, correct?

I've got a Fat PS2 with one for the hard drive, its much easier. Tried it on a 70K and a 79K. The 79K is the one that wont even pick up my Freemcboot now, and i tried last night to get the DVD update working like you suggested but the guides are using different software to get the update, and i dont know how to do it with Freemcboot.

And with it being so long i likely dont have the original dump for the console, so i cant reset it to try again so im going to have to buy a new slim.

DOH, just reinstall FMCB while on 70k and choose cross-region option to make fmcb work on all models. I advice, however, to use some spare memory card, just in case things will go wrong.

70k and 50k are limited and cannot run games out of region even with mechapwn help. You can run burned backups, but they must match your console region. But 79k is region free and can run any region games just fine.

NAH, just provide messy dump+sticker photo I can try to help you with this issue. I can try to restore your nvram to its original state.

Thanks, i'll sort it later today for you.

Managed to get the dump of the NVRAM from 79K system. Updated FMCB and it worked so no worries in that department now. Attached photo of the sticker on bottom of the console in the zip file also.

PS2NVRAM.zip

I've got the latest version of MechaPWN on a usb ready to go also so will be upto date with lastest info.

AKuHAK commented 2 weeks ago

@thewizard99 yes, your nvram was a complete mess. Below possible restore to the vanilla state. nvm_6.12_0608502 fixed.bin.zip After restore you can try to install latest dev build.
