There are some important pull request and some open issues wich haven't been worked on for months.

Is this repo still maintained by the owner, or shall we use other plugins instead?

It's not maintained. Feel free to fork & I'd be happy to update the README.md to point to some place more appropriate and to transfer the npm ownership.
