Hello, my name is Mason and I am currently a senior studying psychology at the University of Montana. I have little to no experience with this topic, but I am excited to learn a lot about it! I am taking this class because I thought the topic seemed really interesting, and I also needed just some general credits to graduate. Outside of school, I enjoy video games, playing guitar, and going for walks. I am looking forward to learning a lot about this subject!

I am brand new to this topic as well but I think it has so many uses regardless of where we think we'll end up and seems like a cool introduction to programming which I never thought I would be interested in. I'm excited to see all the different aspects we'll get to learn.

Even if web design doesn't apply to your major, you can totally still use it. For example, I've been plugging away at a web portfolio for my projects (just theater so far), but I have to rely on a third-party website maker to do it. After testing Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, and Wordpress, I finally landed on Wordpress as the least horrible to use. I also had a very specific aesthetic in mind, one of monochromatic simplicity, and it seemed like every single website maker only had overly complicated templates that shove dynamic elements in your face.

By the end of this course though, I'll be able to wave goodbye to clunky, sluggish web interfaces and constant upsells and do it all on my own. To be fair, I will have to be in charge of compatibility, security, etc., but at least I can do so by just changing values in a file, not with some stupid menu burried four levels deep that is hidden by default.

TL;DR, Squarespace ads won't hurt you anymore. You're better than them.

I'm really surprised by the amount of people taking this class who aren't in comp sci! Thats really cool!
