6 years ago I found that enabling animated menus causes similar/different bugs in different areas of the UI:

Some screen transitions have one screen animated and one not animated, so one of the screens will rapidly "clip" into or out of the display. Can be seen by:
- Going to Singleplayer/Host Game from the main menu.
- Going to Record/Replay from the extras menu.
- Going from advanced setup to module details.

Some screen transitions will not work, showing no screen at all until the screen is forcefully exited with 'esc'. Can be seen by:
- Going to universe setup in the advanced game create menu, and returning to the module selection.
- Going to create from singleplayer, after returning from create once.
- Returning from the recording naming screen to recording select (my own screen, whoops :/ )
- Returning from the metric menu to the extras menu

Some screens simply have no animation at all, even with animated menus enabled. Can be seen by:
- Going through the advanced game setup process, from universe setup onwards there are no animations
There may be more screens with these issues, these were just the ones I could find.

Just saw the
Animated Menusoption in Video settings while in-game and checked/ticked it to try it out.What actually happened
After Animated Menus option was enabled , the back button didn't seem to respond...It was not taking me to the Settings Screen (Audio settings, video settings , etc.)
