Operations: increase your financial literacy

Description:

Part of my capstone project is to build and or increase financial literacy at Mofo. There could be several focus's of this session, and depending on input form this group, could shape the main topic.(could also piggy back off others) I would focus on basic financial knowledge, stuff that people probably hear around but not really certain what it means. • Broad stroke explanation of financial terms and reports • Review a GL data dump of an expense account and show them how to understand it and what it is useful for.
• Show how salaries of people are split and why it matters. • Review a YTD income statement compared to budget and what can be interpreted from it • Do a section on how delay in expense reporting or errors impact reporting and daily tasks • Explain why Grant reporting is different than regular and what gets done with the info

Time requirements:

1 hour

Space requirements:

Fairly small, need overhead screen to attach to a computer

Required attendees:

I would like to have any one who manages a grant on a day to day basis to attend this session.
