Description

Participants will feel and experience global inter-connected Mozilla community at the Mozilla Festival by sharing their thought and idea in Fireside chat style session. Mozilla Japan will provide following 3 firesaide chat sessions(minutes each) with Japan and 3 community spaces in Asia with London. 1) Gecko for embedded products (technology discussion) 2) Human resource development and education in Mozilla community 3) Privacy and personal data protection.

The environment for this session can be used to held other sessions connecting anywhere on the earth to remotely participate to MozFest.

We will bring diversity and remote participation. Since travel cost from Asia or US is very expensive, it will show a possibility of inter-connected and distributed next generation Festival.

Agenda

We will be connecting existing MozSpace (Tokyo), Community spaces(Manila, Jakarta, Taipei) over video conference system. Those spaces will have Mozilla staff or community contributors who help Mozfest. They all use videoconference system to discuss how to make community spaces better with Mozilla.

We will simply use this existing environment and connect them at Mozilla Festival. It is very simple as long as we have good internet connection at the Festival Venue(We have it at least last year).

We will set up a TV monitor and good speaker/Microphone. We will set them up on a table and participants will sit around the system to have a roundtable discussion.

Each location have a facilitator and main MC will control session at London.

Participants

It is depends on a space allocated to this project. At least 3 or 5 people are required to have discussion. We can do it with 100 people but too big participants are not good because there will be less opportunity to speak. It will work best with around 10 people.

Outcome

Mozilla Festival will experience the combination of real and cyber space festival, and we can reach to more people who are not able to visit London. Also, we can share more activities from people who are not able to come to the Festival.

This is the first step to make the MozFest to be Web and real mixed new environment.

Additional information about this proposal. I am working with Asian communities to make this happen. Also my goal is not only Mozilla Festival, but also regular communication between Mozilla community spaces.
