Josh Jenkins emailed us on 8/10 - Lainie to respond and have them connect with Simona when she's back from PTO!
They've done an initial scoping document for Hive DUN and have stakeholder buy-in to ensure it will be resourced effectively. They also used Chattanooga as a case study since they have access to gigabit internet speeds.
Sent 2 follow up emails discuss Hive Development in Dunedin to:
Andrew Whiley: Andrew.Whiley@dcc.govt.nz Josh Jenkins: josh@digitaloffice.co.nz Andy Kilsby: andy@malcam.org.nz Heidi Renata: Heidi.Renata@vodafone.com>
Next Steps: Book a meeting to get general understanding of who each person is and how they see a Hive in Dunedin. Might possibly bring in Jess from CreateLabs in Wellington to see if a regional group effort would be possible.
I wanna go! ;)
Dunedin and Wellington are on separate islands, but definitely good to get them connected in any case.
Note from Andy: December 15, 2015
Dunedin has the fortune of being New Zealand's first gig city, following a promotion by our major infrastructure provider Chorus. We have the fastest internet speed in the country, and a range of opportunities for business and community entities to tap into resource. As such, we have applied to a number of funding providers for logistical support to get the hive up and running. We are confident of their support.
