Please try the new version here : https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee.
installed the new version and now i get these mustang@mustang:~$ optirun gxlgears The Bumblebee X server was not available, please check the Bumblebee logfile at /var/log/bumblebee.log

sudo apt-get purge nvidia-current bumblebee sudo apt-get install bumblebee
did it, still same problem
Did you run the cleanup script with --force before installing ?
yes, and in fact now im trying with a clean installation of ubuntu
Sorry, I did forget something in the above procedure. If it works with a clean install, no matter, else try that : sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade nvidia-current

also did: sudo mv /usr/share/doc/bumblebee/bumblebee-enablecard.template /usr/local/bin/bumblebee-enablecard
sudo mv /usr/share/doc/bumblebee/bumblebee-disablecard.template /usr/local/bin/bumblebee-disablecard
and still the same
any suggestion
