Issue - optirun starts and stops application

Hi, I'm running bumblebee Ubuntu 11.04. The machine is an Asus N43SL with a NVidia GeForce GT540M.

After installing bumblebee I enabled it with success:

$ sudo /etc/init.d/bumblebee enable

Then, when I was trying to test an application (glxgears) with optirun, something went wrong: 1) Bumblebee XServer started 2) a window opened and closed for an instant 3) Bumblebee XServer started

Here is the console output:

$ optirun glxgears

The configuration files are: http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/bumblebee-enablecard http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/bumblebee-disablecard http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia

The Xorg Log files: After running 'sudo /etc/init.d/bumblebee enable' http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/Xorg.7.log.1 After running 'optirun glxgears' http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/Xorg.7.log.2

Use the new version here (read the readme entirely) : https://github.com/Bumblebee-Project/Bumblebee

Thank you,

I was running an older version of Bumblebee - older repositories. I cleaned up the older version and installed with all steps indicated in README I noticed that Bumblebee changed, and one of the changes is that there aren't any bumblebee-enable/disablecard scripts on /usr/local/bin. I also noticed the /etc/bumblebee directory that mantains the bumblebee.cfg and xorg.conf files for nvidia/nouveau drivers - I did not change anyone.

But now I have a new problem - After rebooting system, i tried to run 'optirun firefox' and nothing happened. I had to kill process after a while:

$ optirun firefox ^C

I checked my /etc/bumblebee.log file and it looks like that the system was "Waiting for X server to become available." I also checked my /etc/Xorg.8.log file and I found an error marker (EE):

(EE) NVIDIA(0): WAIT: (E, 0, 0x857d, 0)

Here are both files: http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/02/bumblebee.log http://www.alunos.dcc.fc.up.pt/~c0416110/bumblebee/02/Xorg.8.log

Can you help me?!

Never seen such an error.

Could you open an issue on the new bugtracker ?

jrvf commented 13 years ago

Sorry, I don't know what you mean with "new bugtracker". I ran "sudo bumblebee-bugreport" and and mailed the bug report to bumblebee@lists.launchpad.net

ArchangeGabriel commented 13 years ago

The new bug tracker is the issues section of the link I've posted above to the new Bumblebee project.

Oh, sorry for my mistake! Understood!

Issue on new Bugtracker #128 - "'optirun firefox' waits!"
