Coral Reefs threatened #3

Open Mustang01 opened 12 years ago

Mustang01 commented 12 years ago

Description:

A recent study found that reefs had a hiatus in growhth from 2000 BC to 500 AD. Scientists believe climate conditions existed then which are similar to what could occur over the next 100 years due to anthropogenic global warming. Coral reefs are beautiful and should be preserved. Local management concerns also threaten the reefs. I suggest we focus on Issue #4. If coral reefs regularly ebb and flow in a natural cycle (as the findings indicate), we aren't "big" enough to affect them. They may be the "canary in the coal mine", or they may be like bears that aren't dying, just going into hibernation.
