British Voice is inoperative?? 'latest 03-24 03:35:08' #43

Describe the bug attempted to change 'home.mycroft.ai/device' voice to google, no luck paired new device with British voice - no change noted ALL the same voice ??? American Male

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior: 1.edit my 'home..../device' to "Google voice" ; saved it

  1. told Mycroft to "configuration update" - no changes reported
  2. Deleted 'device' - power cycled my Mycroft
  3. 'Paired' it with a British Voice

Expected behavior a different sounding voice

Log files If possible, add log files from /var/log/mycroft/ to help explain your problem.

Hi!

There is currently a on-device config (/etc/mycroft/mycroft.conf) always overriding the TTS to use the Mimic2 (American Male). The solution is to do some re-arranging on how configs are resolved (see https://github.com/MycroftAI/mycroft-core/pull/2861). The ins and outs and implications are still being discussed but I think the team / community is fairly agreed on a solution.

Mimic1 (British male) also has some issues with the new caching system (suggested solution(s) in https://github.com/MycroftAI/mycroft-core/pull/2871) so even after the config issue is resolved there may be some issues with the British voice.
