They also didnt spawn on Mercury and the same happens when updated to 1.7
Was coming here to post this exact same bug. At first I didn't notice. There were pre-existing mobs in my save. But then I noticed... they weren't there anymore. I personally witnessed some spiders (with the helmets on) dying in space. Did the others die?
Not sure if they no longer spawn, or are dying from lack of oxygen.
I had mobs for the first couple of days, but a flying spider came along & killed me (coincidental or not) I saw no mobs after that.
-edit: I just upgraded to 1.7.2 - Mobs spawned in a new world after I took the time to complete quests up to the pick and rad-away branch, will test more later to see if they continue to spawn as expected, will allow myself to die at some point to see if that has an effect as well.
Worlds created in 1.6.1 for some reason default 'gamerule doMobSpawning = false' and therefore only mobs which existed before will exist, no new will spawn.
Open your world in Lan and enable Cheats if you dont have cheats enabled on your SP world and then do ' /gamerule doMobSpawning true ' - this should enable mobspawning again (during nighttime)
This issue does not seem to happen in 1.7.0 for new worlds but will persist through worlds created in (and maybe before and updated through) 1.6.1
Hope that helps =)
Fixed my 1.7 install!
See Title. No Mobs are spawning in the asteroids on a (freshly started) world (SP, haven't yet been able to test MP), beside the few designated mobs spawning in the custom structures (cargo ships etc).
I highly doubt that this is/was intentional?
