Crab hatch and transfer

Supplies

• autopipeter and pipettes
• 1 L media bottles
• scooping jars
• coolers
• ice pak

Hatch

1. put ripest crabs in hatchery box (danielle or mike)
2. observe hatching (potentially friends of zoea)
3. let day 0 hatch flow out
4. put into a new hatch box with filter (potentially friends of zoea)
5. next day collect zoea (scoop them out with a jar and fill 1 L media bottle; danielle or mike)

Zoea transfer

• 1 liter media jars with no head space
• keep in cooler with ice paks
• Drive quickly but responsibly (time with traffic)

At montlake to receive zoea

• seawater (bubbled)
• cut off squeeze bulb pipette
• small jar/tray for sorting
• 24 well plates
• chambers running
• plan!

Timing on transfer on person gets zoea, other at Montlake to bubble and put zoea in well plates
