Add extra recursive step in `list_candidate_ios` #1503

Needed for #1501.

This is the simple fix for your PR, but I want to run the full test suite to make sure it doesn't break something else which will require more complicated logic. But if this works you can review it then merge into main to get it for your PR. I've tested locally for a few of the new CatGT folders.
