From looking at the libloot code I can say that these errors are a bit misleading. Vortex doesn't handle "ghost"ed plugins at the moment so there is no way Vortex would ask LOOT to sort a .ghost file. However the way the code works is that file_size checks for the existence of .esp/.esm first, if it doesn't exist it appends the .ghost extension and tries to determine the size of that. This means that if neither .esp nor .esp.ghost exists, the error message will always refer to ".esp.ghost".
