I enable fg and it goes go to 70 fps but it feels like native fps which is 35,I dont see a differnce in smoothness when I enable fg, am I doing somehting wrong?

slyfox8900 commented 8 months ago

The overall smoothness is better but what i suspect that you're feeling is the same thing i am, which is heavyyyyy input lag. My 3080 with pathtracing on only gets 40-ish with DLSS balanced, 85 with FSR 3 frame gen mod. But because the base frame rate is slow it feels very sluggish. You already need a good base frame rate ie, 50 or more i'd say for frame gen to feel good with mouse/keyboard inputs

u sure thats the case because I have the same gpu and in cyberpunk with pathtracing I get much the same fps like native alan wake but when I enable fg in cyberpunk it feels buttery smooth.

I mean i could be wrong, there is also awful character strobbing from the generated frames in alan wake, so maybe its just an issue overall with compatibility, try setting dlss to performance or ultra performance then turn on frame gen and see if the "smoothness" feels better, cuz with perf or ultra perf dlss youll get a higher base fps before frame gen is turned on. Let me know.

Dust0x commented 8 months ago

there is an issue with alan wake 2 and jutter caused from mouse input if you are not locked to a framerate even divided by 30. Try using a controller or locking via nvidia control panel it feels much smoother.

amirjg commented 8 months ago

Alan wake is weird in some areas...Most parts of the game definitely feel smoother and feel like I'm getting the fps I'm seeing with RTSS for sure, like the forest area mostly, but some other parts definitely feel off and i feel no improvement for sure...I don't know what's causing this tho, cause RTSS definitely picks extra frames in those situations

I am using a controller what framerate should i be locked.

Well if i go to ultra perf it does improve but just a bit but nowhere near the smoothnes of cp 2077

Sorry I don't understand, what u mean

Many videos I watched on youtube used AW2 Rune Crack version for show this mod. Me, and other people still don't work. I wondered if the cause can be the original game

As I said in my original comment any frame rate evenly divided by 30 (30,60,90,120 etc) that you can consistenly reach. In your case thought locking to 60 will feel horrible cause frame generation will double yours frames from 30 which will introduce horrible input lag and artifacts. Soo its kinda unfixable in your case. Best to drop the settings a bit to get consistent higher fps.

EGS Alan Wake 2, on startup there is the popup of mod but can't turn on FG.

EGS Alan Wake 2, on startup there is the popup of mod but can't turn on FG.

At another conversation, they mentioned that you need to use the dllstweak version to enable the checkbox in AW2.

I installed dllstweak and the dllstweak version of this mod and now I can enable fg.

It doesn't really work for me though. When I turn RT on low, the fps goes from 110 to 37fps. Without RT I made 30-50 fps increase.

you mean you have the same fps with frame generation on/off because its normal for rt to hammer your fps to almost 1/3 of you original value. It depends on your graphics card.

I have an everage (woods) of just below 50fps with RT low and without fg. I have around 39fps with RT low and with fg. The input lag also increases with RT and fg

The fps also doesn't increase back when I turn RT off. Need to restart the game to restore the fps. But I have not tested this any further.

I see. I dont think I can be of any further help here this is clearly a bug that you mention.

EGS Alan Wake 2, on startup there is the popup of mod but can't turn on FG.

To fix the issue with Epic Games you have to clean those two folders:

\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Extras\Overlay \Epic Games\Epic Online Services\managedArtifacts\98bc04bc842e4906993fd6d6644ffb8d

Keep in mind, one of those paths may be on another drive. For me the first path was on drive E, and the second on drive C.

// Please, let me know if it fixed the issue for you.

Thank you for the suggestion. It didn't work though. I deleted the first folder, but I can't find the "managedArtifacts" folder in the "Epic Online Services" folder. (I have a second drive, but I don't do anything with that drive that's about launchers or games)

Lots of people reports that it getting rid of Epic Overlay solved the problem for them. Try again using this method:

Yes I've noticed changing any graphic setting requires a restart, I notice the frame gen bugging out and sometimes get black squares and weird stuff until I do so. Same results here, not much of a difference when RT on Low is enabled (PT enabled). Maybe a few frames, but yes bad input latency as well going into 30ms+.

I've found out at least for me, the best performance increase is using Direct Lighting only for now.

The overlay is gone, but fps with RT is still low.
