The current design of DataFed utilizes a custom GridFTP "callout" library to replace the standard Globus authorization with a DataFed specific implementation. This mode of operation in Globus 4 requires using an unsupported configuration of data repository endpoints, and Globus has suggested that a normal configuration of Globus 5 can be used instead. This has not been verified by either Globus or ORNL and this needs to be investigated to determine the appropriate path forward for DataFed 2. A test deployment of a Globus 5 endpoint should be created and integrated with the current development deployment of DataFed 1 to determine feasibility.
