There is a need to both replicate the metadata associated with DataFed records and to be able to transfer metadata along with raw data when data records are downloaded from DataFed. A mechanism to replicate and synchronize metadata to a repository endpoint location needs to be designed, as well as how the data transfer implementation would be updated to transfers this metadata on download.
