@s-pearce

"Also, I believe it was framework 3 that first allowed the SVU/Multipoint-calibration, and firmware less than 3.x.x only used the Mk2 equation."

soerenthomsen commented 3 years ago

@tomhull you agree with this? Happy to help implementing but want confirmation.

tomhull commented 3 years ago

Yep, the SVU equation is an option only on 4xxx series, which is since 2012 and only on those with serial numbers > #1000, firmware versions 4.4.8 or higher are needed. I can add this.

Thanks @tomhull, I wonder how we could best organize the SOP to have all this information about older versions and the latest version there without being too lengthy... i.e. also for the commands. For now I suggest to just add it to the text so that we have it but maybe there is a nicer way how to do organize the document. I also have a call tomorrow with @s-pearce to discuss this. Any link to official manuals for sure is very useful.

I think to maintain readability of the sections, the procedures such as the calibration routine / commands need to be moved / added to an appendix. That way we have more clear distinction between sections which are "things you should know" and actual step by step procedures.

Yes probably makes sense. And these "step by step" procedures can be linked easily in the main text.

My questions was also related to different firmware versions etc. so commands which are outdated. I don't want to rewrite all kind of commands etc

@tomhull Although the serial numbers > #1000 bit is written in the manuals, that is only true for the 4330 form factor of the optode. The 4831 form factor (same internal parts) has most serial numbers less than 1000 but are firmware versions higher than 4.4.8. The 4831 SVU optodes I have range from serial numbers 100 to 800 and the newest were purchased just this year. So I might leave that bit about the serial numbers out of any informational texts because it is partially incorrect, or provide a comment correcting it.

@s-pearce that's a very good point! I'll amend the text.
