In the macOS version, you can convert a volume image into a device image file (through Disk-O-Matic, its image analyzer). This is generally the quickest way to achieve what you're doing.
Your workaround is clever, it never crossed my mind that the image injection feature could be used to do that but, in retrospect, it's pretty obvious :)
I'll add your suggestion to the to-do list of the next Windows version.
Terribly sorry if I've just missed it somehow but it seems that the "Add Existing Image File" option does not allow one to convert an existing image without adding one of the preset partitions to the image.
Example, I want to convert an existing 500mb disk image I made in vMac for use on my LCIII via ZuluSCSI, I select the "Advanced" options and add the existing file as a new image.
Now there are two partitions in the resulting image file, my 500mb plus the preset 20mb, "Blank HFS". In the list of partitions, I can delete my added partition but not the preset one.
It's not a big deal but it'd be nice to not have to include any extra volumes when converting an existing image.
And sorry again if I've just missed something in the documentation.
This is the Windows x64 version by the way. I'mm try the MacOS later and see if it's the same.
