Mehrsprachigkeit D/F/I/E // Support multiple languages #17

Find a (simple) way to support multiple languages on the website.

chnuessli commented 3 years ago

This "platform" is not a CMS. So make it multiple language would'nt be easy. Maybe it's a better idea to just make a french distribution of it, and link it? What do you think?

chnuessli commented 3 years ago

@rbovard would that be an option? Maybe @Overflorian is also interested in a french distribution?

overflorian commented 3 years ago

Thank you to mention me. At this point we use successfully our website https://projetdumois.fr in french; it will soon be translated to english so you could consider translate it into German and install your own instance for another country. The translation will be managed with Transifex. I recommend you use Transifex in order to translate your tool, if needed.

chnuessli commented 3 years ago

@overflorian I'll check Transifex. But the tool has not so many text to use an automated tool, all can be done handy. I'll discuss with @rbovard what would be the best approach to do this. Thank you

rbovard commented 3 years ago

If the strings to translate are only in HTML pages, you can try that "manual" method: https://stackoverflow.com/a/46008865

chnuessli commented 3 years ago

Yeah it's just HTML Code for the Website, the Map is based on Umap and there we have to make a separate Map in french

chnuessli commented 3 years ago

checked transifex, it's too expensive

overflorian commented 3 years ago

I believe Transifex is free of use for open source projects.

@chnuessli Any news on this one?

I really think this is something that is missing for a wide adoption on this side of the Röstigraben ;)

FYI I can try to participate in this effort within the limits of my means.

Phu, a year since i opened it. I have some news, sadly not big news. A student is on the redesign of the whole project. And after we switched, it should be possible to maintain a multi-lingual application. But, it takes really more time. Thank you for your offer, i will get back to you.
