@smeisler it looks like there are a lot of unrelated commits in here. Would it make sense to move the relevant changes to a new PR?

Yah I can try that. I did this because there was a lot of updates while the PR was waiting to be merged, so I updated from main so there wouldn't be merge conflicts.
