@trigger67 yes I use that usually but in webp they are too blurry, so after discussion about it with Kevin (he also tested it). We decided that PNG has slightly better quality until we get better image. We used webp format previously. Also I tried multiple tools for image conversion (including gimp) they all gave me same image quality. If that is not okay with you I will rollback to webp.
We use webp format everywhere, could you use that (can just open in gimp, and export in webp). @Flashmaxi
