I think this issue is due to a misunderstanding. The obsoleted IAO class is: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/IAO_0000128 PNO introduces a novel representation of identifier (proper name) based on the underlying theory of proper names. The class name is: http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/IAO_0020000 The initial label for this class was "proper name", but by request of users it has been changed to identifier, since people seem to have a rather restricted sense of what qualifies as a name, while the underlying theory of proper names is indeed fairly admissive.
