It's an optional token for the layer name : it can be used if we want a multilayer exr which specific layer names. It's also needed if we want the same AOV to be authored multiple times to the same .exr but with a different filter. This token is then needed to identify each.
Given how cyrptomatte sets the tokenized outputs, when such a token is present the whole parsing fails.
