Summary of Changes

In the next few days I will make requests for a few aircraft which use the Aries EW system. These include PD.808GE (Italy), PD.808GE2 update (Italy), HFB-320ECM (Germany), C-212-200 EW version (Spain), C-212-100 EW version (Portugal), Yak-40E update (Yugoslavia, Serbia). For this a few sensor requests will be necessary.

The Aries EW system is a modular system which consists of a combination of different receiving and transmitting antennas. Aries isn't the same on every platform. There are considerable differences between the PD.808GE1 and PD.808GE2 of the Italian Air Force. While the first was put into service in 1972 and relied on analog technology, the other one was put into service in the late 80s by converting two transport Piaggios into the EW version with new digital instruments and better jamming capabilities. The Yak-40E on the other hand which followed the lead in 1991 is the largest platform carrying the Aries and the only as far as I know where the entire Aries/Fast Jam/Smart Guard combo can be seen on one single aircraft and thus the full Aries EW suite.
