subtitles go way too fast #318

started a video with embedded subtitles and they were going so fast they were unreadable, and loading external subtitles made the video to freeze

no problems with totem

for the record i'm on fedora 36...

Freezes with loading external subtitles is a known Clapper issue, yes. I hope to have this and few other things fixed sooner rather then later, but didn't find enough free time to do so recently :disappointed:

But your initial problem with subs faster then video, does not seem to be a Clapper bug through. We do receive (and show) video frame together with corresponding subtitle to display (a complete set in single data buffer) from GStreamer pipeline, which we do. If something causes subtitles to be out of sync with video, its more likely an upstream GStreamer bug. Can you share some sample video that reproduces this (very fast subtitles) issue?
