REC river reaches with incorrect headwater distance data #19

Tim Cox has identified that Makarewa tributary has its confluence connection (nzsegment 15400003) distance to the Oreti incorrectly set to 0 km when it should be more like 195 km.
He also found that the assessment point for nzsegment number 15273072 (a cultural site) is incorrectly set to 15 km when it should be about 95 km.

It turns out that the headwater distance attribute of the REC data being used is incorrect in these cases. It seems likely that these reaches are part of reach network updates, but the auxiliary attribute data has not also been updated. Ideally it would be but that is beyond the scope of the project.

The Makarewa confluence reach appears to be a new reach, so has 0 set for all of its auxiliary attributes. The Oreti segment 15273072 is associated with what used to be a small tributary, and so the auxiliary attributes of that small tributary are still retained.

I have prepared and "RECUpdateData" text file which details nzsegement numbers, their headw_dist values and their QMean values. They have been manually estimated. This file has been used to update the RECnetwork data and the flow data. If any further segments are found to be in error, they can be added to this file.
