The latest version of Kodi/XBMC has a real useful feature related to keybindings, it can differentiate between short and long presses (at least for keyboards and some other controllers).
Since I've quite few buttons on my remote, I would love to use this feature.

Maybe you can (back)port that from Kodi (not sure about licence stuff and so) or implement a own solution. The relevant commits to Kodi seem to be: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/9eabbe91d5a16f65b4f3373d0f49c1f4cc0af2b3 https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/b406e752a89e2d9ae954222b4612802569d68da7
If a port would be alright I could try it myself and create a pull request, but not sure if I can get it to work.
