Hostile Zirax drones & gunships don't shoot at players or base, except if we're piloting a vessel (drone weapons pointing backwards?) #331

Description of issue

On co-op multiplayer (local), on Oscutune starter world, me & my bro keep seeing hostile Zirax drones (Gatling Aerodrones) flying over us, facing us as if trying to attack, but their big bright baby blue (why? LOL) guns are pointed backwards, wiggling around like they're struggling to aim at us, but failing, & not firing. (Or were the drones flying backwards & keeping their rear-sides to us? I can't really tell...)

Also, a Siege Drone Gunship "attacked" our base, but once again wasn't firing at us (I couldn't tell if its guns were facing away or not). Was a free easy kill for us once more, along with the Gatling Aerodrones that came with it.

However, it seems the drones DO shoot at us in one particular case: If we're in our semi-enclosed hovercraft together. o_O

Could it be that in multiplayer, they don't know who to aim at, until we basically become merged with a single vehicle?

I tested the same scenario & planet (different seed/game) in single player... And the nearby drones immediately shot me like they should. Aimed their guns in my direction (while I was on foot) & killed me dead.

My brother tried to test our actual MP map in single player, but the drones didn't come to play this time. Will post again if he gets around to trying again.

(On my own time, I also tried a single-player vanilla world - can't have the same starter planet, so I did the desert one but with climate effects turned off so I could speedrun to where some Damaged Drone (Cannon)s were - & those had no problem killing me either. But yeah, now I realize we really should both try vanilla co-op to see if that's the issue. But he doesn't have a lot of free time, & when he does we really want to just play for real together. So, what's the quickest world & way to confront Gatling Aerodrones in vanilla survival, anyone know? Or if those are RE2 specific, then something comparable?) screenshot_20240926_223710 screenshot_20240926_223322

This is likely a game bug and will need to be reproduced and reported using a vanilla save game. When reproducing a game bug in a vanilla save, make sure you are using the same mode (singleplayer/co-op/dedicated multiplayer, survival/creative) as what you were using when the issue happened in the scenario. To see a list of known game bugs or to report a new one please see: https://empyriononline.com/forums/bugs.24/

By the way, uh... I kinda wish that the warning that co-op is not recommended on RE2 would've been included in the description of the mod itself... instead of just tiny fine print on the Issue report form I filled out above, haha... If I'd known that from the start, me & my bro wouldn't have wasted so much time & effort trying this... I suggest adding that note up-front, to save people from needless frustration. :')

(Any chance the original RE would work better for co-op? Maybe with an older version of the base game?)

No scenario will work well in coop. It's an issue with the game in coop itself, not the scenario. A true dedicated server is always best.
